LOCATION: SVI/C Avenue of the States and Washington Street ZONE: P.C.-(2): , , . . , , Mr. Nick Melloni, Assistant Planner, presented a proposal for a_master sign program for Palm Village. This came before the Commission on January , 22, 2019 and was continued subject to comments regarding the actual , design of the monument sign and the language for letter return for walls _ signs that have a smaller height. He stated the applicant has revised the monument sign design and overall the height has increased 6". Also some . , , of the proportions and geometry of the Chevron element have changed and , the relationship is a little different. He presented the previous`design of the . . monument sign and said the Commission's comments at that time were , that this cabinet is pretty recfilinear and doesn't really correspond to the . Chevron on the Denny's building. He presented the new design and said they have changed the shaped~of that specific panel, as well as some of the proportions of the actual Chevron that extends a little bit beyond the . width of the cabinet element and they have also removed the support posts. . The Commission reviewed theold and new design. Commissioner Vuksic agrees with the proportions of the new design and especially how the Palm Village sign marries into it that makes it look better. However, he is , concernednrith the empty space under the Chevron that looks like it needs some kind of support. Mr. Eric Ceja, Principal Planner, said staff can relay to the applicant that the space somehow needs to be filled or re-visited. Commissione Mclntosh referred to the sign progam relating to the wall signs and lighting and asked if sign prog, rams are usually that broad to include LEDs, neon, fluorescent, indirect illumination and candescent. Mr. Melloni said rriost of the time it is very specific. He said that was.one of his comments in his review, however the applicant wanted more flexibility in their sign design. > , i - Commissioner Mclntosh thought a sign program is supposed to introduce . some conforrrity within the development.
