Michael Rover – Building Board of Appeals Background Over the past several months, applications were solicited from members of the public and Committee/Commission members whose terms would expire on June 30, 2021. Several members did not seek reappointment, while others submitted applications to continue to serve the City. At the June 24, 2021, regular meeting, the City Council assigned or reassigned all applicants to a Committee or Commission for a four-year term. Reassignments include Mr. Levin and Ms. Miller to the Building Board of Appeals, and Mr. Mireles to the Architectural Review Commission. I have served the city for about 20-25 years , with so many wonderful people, and it is hard to say I will not be able to continue. Your great city has allowed me to serve on several committees over these past years , but with several health issues in the home it is not possible. I wish the city to be able to continue to grow in the future , in the same manner as they have in the past. The city of Palm Desert has continued to remain financially sound all these many years of problems, not of the city's making, shows they have been served by very capable people . I have been privileged and honored to serve the City of Palm Desert for the past twenty+ years, and have greatly enjoyed the experience. I feel pleased that I have been allowed to make a minor contribution to the only City in which I have lived since moving back to the Desert in 1981. 1 Both my spouse, Carrie, and I are huge supporters of Palm Desert. We feel lucky to have lived and raised our children in this consistently well-run, stable and successful community. Much of that success is due to the many committed and qualified Council Members who have served our City, and I greatly appreciate their confidence over the years in appointing me to the Commission. However, I have to say that even more credit is due to the dedicated and hard-working City Staff -folks with whom I have worked and observed closely over the years, not only as a Commissioner, but also during my BB&K years , as counsel for the City in a number of litigated matters. Thanks to you, as well , for the fine work that you do in "directing" the Public Safety Commission , and for your support over the years. And finally , a big "Thank you " to all of the Commissioners with whom I have served. Each of them has generously given his or her time and talent toward making their best possible decisions and recommendations for the benefit of the City of Palm Desert.
