Display is representative of potential planting location of trees including; extended
planting medians, blocked out planting sites br parking stall areas and partially
blocked out planting areas adjacent to edges of parking lots. Additionally, the sketch
shows perimeter screening and planting limitations within sight distance triangles.
Tree planting ratio Ls one (1) tree per every three (3) parking stalls. Whenever
possible, low water use shrubs and ground covers are encouraged within tree
planting areas. Turf is not allowed and other high water use plants are strongly
discouraged.
Legend:
1) Good location for 'native' or other multi -branching tree. Wide planting area
(a minimum of 225 square feet per tree) allows for development of a weeping,
wide spreading canopy with minimum maintenance.
2) Tightly grouped upright or columnar trees Space no less than eighteen (18)
foot apart.
3) This area would allow for a grouping of small, medium or large scale trees
provided there is a minimum eight (8) foot wide planting area. Note: Avoid
using small scale tree(s) in partial cut-out areas unless tree is more columnar
or upright.
4) Minimum eight (8) foot wide accent planting island. Would be good location
for large scale tree, used with low growing groundcover.
5) Minimum nine (9) foot wide by seven (7) foot wide planting site area.
Note: Stall length is reduced to seventeen (17) feet. Large or medium scale
tree would work best.
6) Optimum design, seven (7) foot wide or greater fully landscaped median.
Space medium or large scale trees no less than twenty five (25) feet apart.
7) Perimeter landscaping including but not limited to, masonry walls and/or
dense hedges may be required.
8) Landscaping within sight distance triangles is restricted. Shrubs cannot
exceed a height of three (3) feet and trees must be kept back twelve feet
from the curb edge.
