DEFERRED SUBMITTALS
1. DOCUMENTS FOR DEFERRED SUBMITTAL ITEMS LISTED BELOW SHALL BE DESIGNED AND
PREPARED BY THE CONTRACTOR, BASED ON CRITERIA ESTABLISHED IN THE CONSTRUCTION
DOCUMENTS, AND THEN SUBMITTED TO THE ARCHITECT FOR INITIAL REVIEW.
2. THE ARCHITECT WILL REVIEW THE DEFERRED SUBMITTAL AS PART OF THE NORMAL
SUBMITTAL PROCESS AND WILL PROVIDE THE ARCHITECTS SHOP DRAWING STAMP. WHEN
THE SHOP DRAWING STAMP INDICATES 'NO EXCEPTION TAKEN' OR 'REVISE AS NOTED', THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT (2) SETS TO THE BUILDING OFFICIALS FOR THEIR ACCEPTANCE
AND APPROVAL STAMP. ALL FEES FOR THIS EFFORT SHALL BE PAID FOR BY THE
CONTRACTOR.
3. DEFERRED SUBMITTAL PACKAGES SHALL INCLUDE THE LICENSE SEAL OF THE
RESPONSIBLE PREPARING ENGINEER USED BY THE CONTRACTOR. PROVIDE STAMPED AND
SIGNED CALCULATIONS OR OTHER DOCUMENTS WHERE REQUIRED BY THE BUIDLING
OFFICIAL. THE ENGINEER SHALL BE A CALIFORNIA LICENSED ENGINEER. PROVIDE
ENGINEER'S STAMP, AND GENERAL CONTRACTOR'S SHOP DRAWING STAMPS ON EACH
SHEET OF PLANS AND THE COVER OF CALCULATIONS.
4. DEFERRED SUBMITTAL ITEMS SHALL NOT BE FABRICATED AND/OR INSTALLED UNTIL THEY
HAVE BEEN APPROVED BY THE BUILDING OFFICIAL (CBC SECTION 106.3.4.2).
5. COORDINATE ALL DEFERRED SUBMITTALS AND BUILDING DEPARTMENT APROVAL WITH
CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE TO ENSURE PROCESSING IN A TIMELY MANNER AND SO THAT
THERE WILL BE NO DELAY OR EXTENSION OF THE CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE.
6. COORDINATE WITH THE BUILDING OFFICIAL THE ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETE THEIR
REVIEW, ASSUME 30 CALENDAR DAYS UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
7. PROVIDE DEFERRED SUBMITTAL AND APPROVAL FOR THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
COMPLETE AUTOMATIC FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM - COMPLY WITH NFPA 13 (LATEST EDITION).
COMPLETE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM INCLUDING SMOKE DETECTION - COMPLY WITH NFPA 72
(LATEST EDITION).
