2. Discussion on Dining Deck Guidelines
Deputy Director of Development Services, Eric Ceja, advised Commissioners
that the City Council has requested the ARC look at design standards for semi-
permanent dining decks in the public right of way, such as Highway 111 and EI
Paseo. The City has previously worked with Prest, Vuskic and Greenwood
Architects (PVG) on outdoor dining decks and is currently working with PVG to
establish draft design guidelines. The draft guidelines will be presented to City
Council for approval to have the ARC adopt the proposed design guidelines.
This will allow staff to utilize the Temporary Use Permit program for dining
decks and will ensure future and existing dining decks conform to the
established guidelines for design and safety.
Mr. Ceja shared the draft outdoor dining deck design guideline document and
provided a detailed presentation on the included information for the proposed
design and safety guidelines. Discussion ensued with Commissioners
providing comments and concerns. Mr. Ceja noted in the staff report to City
Council it was advised the guidelines are intended to be a living document to
allow for revisions as necessary. Mr. Ceja advised Commissioners the draft
guidelines document would be emailed to them for review at the conclusion of
the ARC meeting.
No formal action was taken on this item as it was brought forth solely for
commissioner's comments.
3. Discussion on Russell Lane Consultation
Deputy Director of Development Services, Eric Ceja, provided a brief
introduction to the item. Mr. Ceja stated this item was approved approximately
three years ago and is already under construction. Due to elevated construction
costs the developer would like to present a variation on the architectural design
for one of the two detached buildings to determine if the Commission would be
amenable to the proposed changes. Mr. Ceja introduced the developer who
provided a presentation on the proposed design changes. Discussion on the
item ensued with Commissioners providing comments on the projecYs
proposed revised design.
No formal action was taken on this item as it was brought forth solely for
commissioner's comments to the applicant.
