CALL TO ORDER Vice Chair Lambell called the meeting to order at 12:32 p.m. II. ROLL CALL Commissioners Current Meeting Year to Date Present Absent Present Absent Chris Van Vliet, Chair X 6 1 Karel Lambell, Vice Chair X 6 1 Allan Levin X 6 1 Michael McAuliffe X 7 Jim Mclntosh X 5 2 John Vuksic joined the meeting at 12:36pm X 6 1 Also Present: Eric Ceja, Deputy Director of Development Services Nick Melloni, Associate Planner Randy Bowman, Deputy Director of Public Works Christina Canales, Land Development Technician Melinda Gonzalez, Recording Secretary After taking roll call for members of the Commission it was determined there was an insufficient number of Commissioners in attendance to form a quorum. Due to lack of a quorum items scheduled for this meeting were deferred to the next regularly scheduled Architectural Review Commission (ARC) meeting to be held on June 22, 2021. III. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS None IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A. MINUTES of the Architectural Review Commission meeting of May 25, 2021. MINUTES ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMISSION JUNE 8, 2021 Rec: Approve as presented. Due to lack of a quorum this item has been deferred to the next regularly scheduled Architectural Review Commission meeting to be held on June 22, 2021. V. CASES A. FINAL DRAWINGS 1. CASE NO: MISC 21-0013 NATURE OF PROJECT/APPROVAL SOUGHT: Consideration to approve a request for a fa�ade improvement for Tommy Bahama Home at 73540 EI Paseo. APPLICANT AND ADDRESS: Michael McAuliffe, AIA (McAuliffe & Company, Inc.), Palm Desert, CA 92260 LOCATION: 73540 EL PASEO ZONE: DO Due to lack of a quorum this item has been deferred to the next regularly scheduled Architectural Review Commission meeting to be held on June 22, 2021 . B. PRELIMINARY PLANS None C. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS Deputy Director of Development Services, Eric Ceja, advised Commissioners in attendance that the City Council has requested the ARC look at design standards for dining decks in the public right of way such as Highway 111 and EI Paseo. The City is working with an Architect team to establish the design guidelines which will be brought before the Commission for review and adoption. The intention being these adopted guidelines could be used for future requests from restauranteurs interested in building a dining deck and would allow approval of these requests by City staff. In response to inquiry by Commissioner McAuliffe, Mr. Ceja stated at this time the dining decks are meant to be temporary until guidelines from Alcohol and Beverage Control (ABC) and state guidelines for the Health Department have more certainty. Upon inquiry by Vice Chair Lambell, Mr. Ceja advised the City is working with the Architectural firm, Prest, Vuksic and noted this firm was working with the City prior to the pandemic on items related to this request. Once the design guidelines are established they will be provided to the ARC for comments and/or adoption. 2 � MINUTES ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMISSION JUNE 8, 2021 At the request of Commissioner McAuliffe, Vice Chair Lambell and Commissioner Vuksic agreed to view the revised renderings for the fa�ade improvement for Tommy Bahama Home. No comments or action were taken at this time due to lack of quorum. Staff advised the Commission this item will be presented and reviewed at the next ARC meeting. Vi. COMMENTS At the request of Vice Chair Lambell, Mr. Ceja referenced recent correspondence sent to Commissioners advising of upcoming changes for the ARC including, the return of two meetings a month, revisions which would require an applicant to use a licensed architect for certain projects, establishing bylaws for the Commission, establishment of minimum standards for design utilizing repetitive comments made by the Commission, and the reopening of City Hall. VII.
