Chairman Hoehn called the meeting to order at 3:01 pm.

IV. CONSENT ITEMS
A. Approval of the Minutes of the Marketing Committee meeting of
August 6, 2019.
Rec: Approved.
Mr. Hoehn asked for a motion to approve the Consent Items. A
motion was made by Norman and seconded by Rodriguez to
accept and approve. Motion passed with a 4-0-2 vote; with,
Nation, Norman, Rodriguez and Hoehn voting in favor. None
abstained. Scott and Forrer absent.
V. NEW BUSINESS
A. FY 19-20 Advertising Campaign Concept Research Findings. Presented
by Ed Cohen and Cimin Cohen, Ideapeddler.
Rec: Receive and File.
Mr. Cohen presented to the Committee a power point summary of market
research conducted on the two campaign concepts approved at the
October 1 meeting of the Marketing Committee, which is attached to, and
incorporated herein, the meeting Minutes of the Marketing Committee. The
conclusion drawn from the research supported moving forward with the
"Find Your Happy Pace" campaign.
No action was requested, but discussion ensued as the Committee voiced
support for this campaign.
B. Review of Media Plan for FY 19-20. Presented by Cimin Cohen,
Ideapeddler.
Rec: Review and recommend approval to the City Council.
Ms. Cohen presented to the Committee a PowerPoint overview of the
proposed FY 19/20 Media Plan, which is attached to, and incorporated
herein, the meeting Minutes of the Marketing Committee. Discussion
ensued.
Mr. Hoehn asked for a motion to approve the direction discussed for the

Media Plan for FY 19-20. A motion was made by Rodriguez and seconded
by Norman to accept and approve. Motion passed with a 4-0-2 vote; with,
Nation, Norman, Rodriguez and Hoehn voting in favor. None abstained.
Scott and Forrer absent.

A. Visitor Services Reports.

IX. REPORTS FROM CITY COUNCIL LIAISONS
A. City Council
Councilmember Jan Harnik, Citv of Palm Desert — Ms. Harnik informed the
Committee that the San Pablo project was moving forward admirably. She
asked the Committee to please continue supporting the businesses along
San Pablo during this construction time. Ms. Harnik also informed the
Committee that the vote to move forward with the CVLink was passed.
Councilmember Gina Nestande, Citv of Palm Desert — Ms. Nestande
informed the Committee that a Study Session on the Desert SURF project
was tentatively scheduled for October 24,, 2019. Ms Nestande also
mentioned that the City continues to look for a hotel developer for a new
hotel project on El Paseo.
X. REPORTS AND REMARKS
A. Chair
Rolf Hoehn, Indian Wells Tennis Gardens — Mr. Hoehn informed the
Committee that the 2019 USAPA National Pickleball Chamionships are set
for the following month. The Tennis Gardens now has a total of 49 courts,
and is expecting 23,000 participants. Another upcoming event is the
Ironman Triathlon in December. Mr. Hoehn reported that the City of La

Quinta has worked hard on a new traffic plan and other measures to make
that event a very positive experience for participants and residents alike.
Regarding the Airport Commission, Mr. Hoehn reported that monthly traffic
records continue to reflect an uptick in travel to the Palm Springs Airport
that is also reflected in the occupancy rates around the Coachella Valley.
B. Committee Members
Jeff rev Norman, McCallum Theatre — Mr. Norman reminded the
Committee that the Theatre's new season would kick off October 12 with
Family Fun Day. Mr. Norman also informed the Committee that the Theatre
now has a new CEO, Terry Dwyer, formerly of the Segerstrom Center in
Orange County. The McCallum achieved $5 million in ticket sales one
month earlier than last year, with a number of shows already sold out.
Rav Rodriquez, Las Casuelas Cafe — Mr. Rodriguez shared the good news
that the summer of 2019 was the best summer his businesses have had
in 30 years, which mirrors the news that air traffic to the destination has
increased. Mr. Rodriguez also mentioned the announcement of a hockey
team coming to Palm Springs.
Bruce Nation, Desert Willow Golf Resort — Mr. Nation mentioned that over -
seeding season had hit, and said Desert Willow had a strong summer as
well. Sales are trending ahead of last year, so the overall outlook at Desert
Willow is positive. Sales of Platinum Cards were strong as well, with 900
already sold, and a cap of 1,050. Mr. Nation expects that the cards will
once again sell out.
C. Staff
Deborah Schwartz Glickman, Business Advocate — Ms. Glickman
reminded the Committee about the City's business survey and encouraged
everyone to participate.
