REQUEST: Declare various pieces of office furniture as surplus, and grant
authorization to donate them to Coachella Valley Economic
Partnership for use at the Palm Desert Hub or dispose of them as
appropriate.
Recommendation
By Minute Motion, declare various pieces of office furniture as surplus, and grant
authorization to donate them to Coachella Valley Economic Partnership for use
at the Palm Desert Hub or dispose of them as appropriate.
Strateqic Plan
The establishment of the Palm Desert Hub (PD Hub), to which some of the chairs will
be donated, aligns with the City's Envision Palm Desert Strategic Plan, Priority 1:
Expand job and business creation opportunities.
It also assists with the City Council's 2019 Goal 1: Open the Palm Desert Hub to attract
high tech entrepreneurial business and jobs.
Background Analvsis
The office furniture listed are old/broken and are no longer needed. The following
recommendations are made for donation or disposal:
Item 1: Three (4) office chairs (City Asset Tag Nos. 07821, 06191, 06311, 03302) -
There are visible tears and damage on tag no. 06191. It is recommended to surplus and
donate or scrap these chairs.
Item 2: One (1) double -drawer filing cabinet (City Asset Tag No. 03705) — There are
visible dents and scuff marks on the cabinet drawers. It is recommended to surplus and
donate or scrap the double drawer filing cabinet.
Item 3: One (1) wooden bookshelf (City Asset Tag No. 02377) - The bookshelf is
missing assembly parts with visible damage to the adjusting shelfs. It is recommended
to surplus and donate or scrap the wooden bookshelf.

Item 4: Five (5) office chairs (no asset tags) — The chairs are no longer needed. It is
recommended to donate or scrap these chairs.
Item 5: One (1) four -drawer filing cabinet (no asset tags) — The filing cabinet has a
jammed drawer. It is recommended to donate or scrap the filing cabinet.
Item 6: One (1) double -drawer filing cabinet (no asset tags) — The filing cabinet has
visible dents and scuff marks. It is recommended to donate or scrap these chairs.
Item 7: One (1) wooden bookshelf (no asset tags) — The bookshelf is missing assembly
parts with visible damage to the adjusting shelfs. It is recommended to donate or scrap
the wooden bookshelf.
