Specialist at Palm Desert High School for more than fifteen years, guiding
over a thousand students each year to make positive choices leading them
to success after high school; and
Whereas, Ms. Wohlmuth assisted Palm Desert Rotary in selecting
students for its annual Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp, thus ensuring
development of leadership and harmony among youth in Palm Desert and
beyond; and
Whereas, Ms. Wohlmuth coordinated and facilitated interviews for
scholarships given by the Rotary Club of Palm Desert Foundation to
15 to 25 graduating Palm Desert High School seniors each year; and
Whereas, Ms. Wohlmuth worked with Palm Desert Rotary members
to plan and carry out the club's eight -week program of coaching and
mentoring for its Rotary Four -Way Test Speech Contest, introducing
students to Rotary's code of ethics and to competition -level public speaking;
and
Whereas, Ms. Wohlmuth encouraged Palm Desert Rotarians to
assist with Palm Desert High School's career path programs; and
Whereas, Ms. Wohlmuth served as faculty advisor to
Palm Desert High School's Interact Club, helping this Rotary -affiliated
student club fulfill Rotary's motto, "Service Above Self'; and
Whereas, at the same time, Ms. Wohlmuth worked harmoniously with
many other community organizations also serving youth without ever
denying love and dedication to any of those organizations.
Now, Therefore, I, Gina Nestande, Mayor of the
City of Palm Desert, California, Along With the Entire City Council, Do
Hereby Proclaim the 26th Day of May as
Lynette Wohlmuth Day
In the City of Palm Desert, and declare our appreciation for the love,
kindness, and service Ms. Wohlmuth has given to each of her students, and
to the Palm Desert community as a whole.
