ADMINISTRATIVE CONFERENCE ROOM 73-510 FRED WARING DRIVE, PALM DESERT, CA 92260 CALL TO ORDER Committee Chair Kyna Huang convened the meeting at 6:03 p.m. II. Manuel Perez) ORAL COMMUNICATIONS None PRESENTATIONS PRESENTATION on the Salton Sea by Deputy Chief of Staff Patricia Cooper with Riverside County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez' Office Ms. Patricia Cooper, Ms. Esmerelda Perez, and Ms. Margarita Felix provided a presentation to the Youth Committee on the Salton Sea, including its history, uses, management programs, clean-up activities, and future plans. MINUTES PALM DESERT YOUTH COMMITTEE JANUARY 13, 2020 V. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A. MINUTES of the December 9, 2019, Palm Desert Youth Committee meeting Due to lack of quorum, no action was taken. VI. NEW BUSINESS A. APPOINTMENT of Member to Lead the Pledge of Allegiance and Provide a Presentation on Youth Committee Activities at the City Council Meeting on February 27, 2020 Due to lack of quorum, no action was taken. Vll. OLD BUSINESS None Vill. CONTINUED BUSINESS None IX. REPORTS AND REMARKS A. COUNCIL MEMBERS None B. STAFF Ms. Lawrence indicated that she planned to take her recommendation for appointment of new members to the City Council on February 13, 2020. She went on to thank those members that participated with Lincoln Elementary School's Holiday Party and requested feedback on how the participants thought it went. Feedback included having wet wipes for those working with food and trying to get a little more order with the students. C. COMMITTEE MEMBERS 1. Events a. Youth Senior Technology Day at the Fountains at the Carlotta — Wednesday, January 15, 2020 Due to lack of volunteers, the event was cancelled. PA MINUTES PALM DESERT YOUTH COMMITTEE JANUARY 13, 2020 b. Palm Desert Sheriff Station Tour — Wednesday, February 12, 2020 (date tentative) Upon review of the potential dates, it was noted that a Tuesday in late February may be best, Ms. Lawrence agreed to reschedule and bring forward dates to the February meeting. c. Youth Senior Technology Day at the Joslyn Center — Wednesday, April 22, 2020 Discussion continued to a later date. d. Earth Day Celebration — Wednesday, April 22, 2020 Discussion continued to a later date. 2. Updates a. Palm Desert Sister Cities Foundation In an effort to maximize the benefit of working with the Palm Desert Sister Cities Foundation, it was agreed that a sophomore or junior member would be appointed to serve as the liaison at an upcoming meeting. 3.
