REQUEST: REQUEST TO DECLARE VEHICLES AS SURPLUS AND
AUTHORIZE DISPOSAL AS RECOMMENDED
Recommendation
By Minute Motion, declare vehicles as surplus and authorize disposal as
recommended.
Strateqic Plan
This is an operational function and, as such, it has no impact on the Strategic Plan.
Background Analvsis
The following vehicles on the attached list are surplus and are no longer needed. Items 1
through 3 have been replaced during Fiscal Year 2019-20 with City -owned vehicles; Item
4 was replaced in Fiscal Year 2016-17 with a new vehicle; and Item 5 will be replaced in
Fiscal Year 2019-20 with a new dump truck that is currently on order. The following
recommendations are made for disposal:
Item 1
Vehicle # 1-151 — 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid batteries are dead and have an estimated
cost of $2,000 to replace, which is not cost efficient. It is recommended to surplus and
auction.
Item 2
Vehicle # 1-152 — 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid batteries are dead and have an estimated
cost of $2,000 to replace, which is not cost efficient. It is recommended to surplus and
auction.
Item 3
Truck # 1-153 - 2000 Ford F-150 CNG Pickup. The CNG tank on this vehicle is expired,
and with a replacement cost of more than $10,000, it is not considered to be cost efficient.
It is recommended to surplus and auction.

Item 4
Truck #230 - 2003 Ford F-150 flatbed truck was replaced with a new vehicle in Fiscal
year 2016-2017. It is recommended to surplus and auction.
Item 5
Truck #009 — 1996 Ford F-Series Dump truck was retired in FY 2018-2019, due to its old
age and the issues with repair parts becoming obsolete, which did not allow the truck to
be in compliance with the Department of Transportation safety regulations. It is
recommended to surplus and auction.
Fiscal Analvsis
Approval of this request may generate funds that will go back into the City's General Fund
account.
