Dear Rachelle,
Regrettably, I must withdraw my name for both Art in Public Places Commission and Joslyn Center
Board Member. After consulting with my employer and my family, I have decided I would not be able
to devote adequate time to serve.
apologize for this. I should have not been so quick to say yes. Please convey my apologies to the
Mayor and City Council. I am grateful for their time and consideration.
Again, please remove my name for consideration.
Thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely,
Michael OKeefe

Dear Mr. O'Keefe:
Again, thank you for your time yesterday morning during the City Council interview for service on our standing
Committees and Commissions and for taking my telephone call this morning, where I was pleased to hear of your
willingness to serve the City on its Art In Public Places Commission and as its Joslyn Center Board Member. These
recommendations will be before the City Council at its meeting next Thursday, February 8, during the 4:00 p.m.
session. In the two or three business days after the meeting, a formal follow-up letter from the Mayor will be sent to
you confirming the appointments.
As promised, attached are the current bylaws for the Joslyn Center Board and the current year's meeting schedule. Next
regular meeting to be held Tuesday, February 27, at 4 p.m. You will also see in the original e-mail below that Joslyn
Center Executive Director Jack Newby would be pleased to meet with you about the Board and service
thereon. Additionally, a copy of this e-mail is being sent to Councilmember Kathleen Kelly, who was Palm Desert's
citizen representative to the Joslyn Board prior to her election to City Council in 2016; and I'm sure she, too, would be
pleased to answer any questions you may have.
In the meantime, please let me know if I can be of any further assistance. Looking forward to working with you!
