Quarterly Report
Airport Master Plan
The ticket wing rehabilitation project(expansion of the check-in area and airline offices) is fully funded
and work will commence within the next few months
Air Service Development
The current airline incentive program, first initiated in 2010 as a marketing incentive for new and
increased air service, has been revised to address industry trends and be more competitive. The
commission approved the new program. The airport will work closely with the Greater Palm Springs
Convention and Visitors Bureau to determine destination cities to be targeted with the program.
Uber and Lyft
Until recently the two TNC's were not allowed to pick up passengers at the terminal, only to drop them
off which did not make sense and was not very visitor friendly. Several months ago the Airport
Commission recommended to the Palm Springs City Council that Uber and Lyft be allowed to pick up
passengers at the terminal and last month the Council voted in favor of changing the policy. As of
March 19 both Uber and Lyft have begun picking up customers at the terminal.
2018/2019 Budget
At its meeting on March 29 the Commission budget committee approved the 2018/2019 budget for
submission to the full airport commission at its meeting on April 11.
February Airline Traffic
The number of passengers travelling in and out of Palm Springs International Airport increased by 7.2%
in the month of February after a similar increase in January.
