Aryan, Risk Manager 5. REQUEST: Ratify increasing Purchase Order No. P113500 issued to BMW Motorcycle of Riverside to $63,000 for motorcycle maintenance. Recommendation By Minute Motion, ratify increasing Purchase Order No. P113500 issued to BMW Motorcycle of Riverside to $63,000. Strategic Plan This item is not associated with any identifiable objective within the Palm Desert Strategic Plan. Background Analysis The City of Palm Desert FY 2017-18 Police Budget includes a $45,000 line item expenditure for motorcycle maintenance. The City issued a $25,000 purchase order (P113500) to BMW Motorcycle of Riverside for maintenance repairs in July 2017; however, current expenditures exceed this amount and are around $53,000. This amount does include an approximately $6,000 expenditure for vehicle repairs from an accident where the officer was found at fault. Staff anticipates reimbursement of these costs from the City's insurer and Riverside County. Staff will work with the Sheriff's Department in ascertaining why maintenance costs exceeded projections this year. The Police Department is planning on purchasing two new motor units with CalCops funds, which should alleviate such expenditures, as the vehicles would be under warranty. Fiscal Analysis Approval of staffs recommendation will increase the motorcycle maintenance line item in the FY 2017-18 Police Budget from $45,000 to $63,000. This amount includes $10,000 for any repair costs that may occur through June 30, 2017. There is no impact to the unobligated general fund, as this cost increase can be absorbed in the current budget. LEGAL REVIEW DEPT. REVIEW N/A FINANCIAL REVIEW CITY MANAGER Robert W.
