Greenberg has donated the sculpture Mesa by Luis Montoya to the City of Palm for placement in Civic Center Park; and Whereas, upon his passing Dr. Greenberg wanted to be remembered both as an art lover and a patron, wishing to extend that enjoyment to others; and Whereas, public art is an important facet of the fabric of the City of Palm Desert with its Art in Public Places program having been established in 1986; and Whereas, the donation of Mesa has enhanced visitors' experiences in the Civic Center Park; and Whereas, Dr. Greenberg was, and continues to be through the donation of Mesa, an asset to his community Now, Therefore, I, Jan C. Harnik, Mayor of the City of Palm Desert, California, Along With the Entire City Council, Do Hereby Proclaim Thursday, January 12, 2017, as Dr. IrvingM . GreenbergDay in the City of Palm Desert and urge all residents to join me in extending our appreciation for the donation of Mesa to our community. In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and have caused the Official Seal of the City of Palm Desert, California, to be affixed this 12th day of January 2017.
