Recommendation By Minute Motion, authorize the purchase of one complete traffic signal controller cabinet assembly in the amount of$26,465.40. Funding is available for this purchase in Account No. 1104250-4332500, R/M Signals. Strategic Plan Objective The proposed action will further the goals of the strategic plan by providing a safe and efficient transportation system for residents and visitors. Background The last spare traffic signal cabinet assembly in stock was recently installed to replace an existing unit damaged by a traffic collision. The Public Works Department needs to purchase a new traffic signal controller cabinet assembly in order to replenish the spare equipment inventory. Staff requested and received quotes from Econolite Control Products, Inc., for purchase of the traffic signal controller cabinet and pertinent equipment. Econolite was approved as a sole source vendor by the City Council on June 10, 2004. Econolite remains the only manufacturer of the traffic signal controller equipment used throughout the City. Staff Report Authorize Purchase of a Signal Controller Cabinet Assembly Page 2 of 2 March 9, 2017 The quotes received from Econolite include $9,423.00 for the controller cabinet, and $17,042.40 for the pertinent equipment for a total amount of $26,465.40, including shipping costs and sales tax.
