wife and four children for the past 28 years, and is a United States Marine Corps
veteran; and
Whereas, in May 1989, Sgt. Adams graduated from the 6th Basic Riverside
Sheriff's Correctional Academy and was assigned to the Larry Smith Correctional
Facility as a Correctional Deputy; and
Whereas, in 1991 , he completed the 117th Basic Riverside Sheriffs Peace
Officer Academy and was assigned to Indio Court Services as a Deputy Sheriff; and
Whereas, in 1995, Sgt. Adams was transferred to the Indio Station where he
was a Field Training Officer, developed traffic programs, and was the first Motor
Officer for the Indio Station; and
Whereas, in 2006, he was promoted to the rank of Sheriff's Corporal
assigned to the Indio Station where he developed the station's Motor Training
Program, and in 2008 was promoted to the rank of Sheriffs Sergeant; and
Whereas, in 2009, Sgt. Adams was assigned to the Palm Desert Station,
where he was assigned to Patrol, Traffic, and Palm Desert Police Administrative
Services; and
Whereas, in 2010, Sgt. Adams obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in
Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale,
and subsequently earned a Master of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from American
Military University in 2012; and
Whereas, from January 2014 to January 2017 Sgt. Adams served as the
Palm Desert Police Administrative Services Sergeant.
Now, Therefore, I, Jan C. Harnik, Mayor of the City of Palm Desert,
California, Along With the Entire City Council, Do Hereby Proclaim Thursday,
February 9th, 2017, as
Sergeant David Adams Day
in the City of Palm Desert, and urge all residents to join me in expressing our
appreciation for his contributions and service to our community, with our best wishes
for many years of continued success in the future.
