Amy, daughter Gina-Marie, and stepson Micah, for the past 27 years; and
Whereas, on April 13th, 1990, Corporal Lawrence began his career with the
Riverside County Sheriff's Department; and
Whereas, in August 1990, he graduated from the Ben Clark Training Center Basic
Peace Officer Academy (Class 115) and was assigned to the Indio Jail; and
Whereas, between November 1992 and April 2017, Corporal Lawrence worked
assignments on Patrol (Palm Desert and Desert Hot Springs), Palm Desert Target Team,
Palm Desert Career Criminal Apprehension Team, Emergency Services Team (EST-
East), Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB), Fugitive Warrant Extradition Team, Motors
(Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage), Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team, and
Coachella Valley Narcotics Task Force; and
Whereas, Corporal Lawrence served for 15 years as a Riverside County Sheriff's
Department EST-East/SEB Sniper; and
Whereas, additionally he served as a Field Training Officer, Range Master, and
Mobile Field Force, Advanced Officer Training, and Active Shooter instructor for the
Riverside County Sheriff's Department; and
Whereas, in October 2003, Corporal Lawrence was promoted to the rank of
Sheriff's Corporal within the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, and
Whereas, in 2011 , he became an adjunct weapons instructor for the College of
the Desert Public Safety Academy; and
Whereas, in 2013, Corporal Troy Lawrence obtained his Advanced Peace Officer
Standards and Training (POST) Certificate.
Now, Therefore, I Jan C. Harnik, Mayor of the City of Palm Desert,
California, Along With the Entire City Council, Do Hereby Proclaim Thursday, April 13th
2017, as
Corporal Troy Lawrence Day
in the City of Palm Desert, and urge all residents to join me in expressing our
appreciation for his contributions and service to our community, with our best wishes for
many years of continued success in the future.
