Juiy 13, 2017 CONTENTS: Special Programs' Department's Authorized Vendor List for FY 2017/18 Recommendation By Minute Motion: 1.: Grant an exception to vendor bidding requirements, as provided in Sections .3 .060 and 3.32.065 of the Municipal Code, for FY 017/18; and 2. ,Approve the Special Programs Department's FY 017118 Authorized Vendor List. Discussion - Each }real, the Special Programs Department requests that the City Council grant an exception to the bidding requirements for a short list of specialty vendors in an effort to simplify the process of acquiring services required to implement various programs, projects, and events- Vendors included on this year's list tend to offer immediate accessibility, specialized services and products, and/or wholesale/discounted pricing specifically related to the following: City Produced Events, i.e. sound and lighting services,. pyrotechnics, shuttle service,: equipment rental, and radio advertising for Concerts in the Park,. • Independence Day Celebration, etc. • - Solid Waste and Repycling, i.e.. hazardous waste collection, transportation and disposal, bulk'mailing services for promotional publicatioi s, receptacles for the City's business recycling program, etc. STAFF REPORT SPECIAL PROGRAMS DEPARTMENT'S AUTHORIZED VENDOR LIST FOR FY 2017/13 J U LY 13, 2017 PAGE 2 Palm Desert Citizens on Patrot Program, i.e. uniform services (e.g. purchase, dry cleaning, etc.) and vehicle graphics. Additionally, some of the vendors included on this list provide sole source products, such as the trash/recycling receptacles on El Paseo, City parks, and the Carlos Ortega Villas, On June 20, 2017, staff posted a notice inviting qualified vendors to apply if they wished to be placed on the Special Programs Department's FY 2017/18 Authorized Vendor List. However, no requests were received. In accordance with City requirements, purchases in aggregate of $25,000 during the fiscal year ,will follow the standard procedure for procurement.
