HomeMy WebLinkAboutSurplus - Various Office FurnitureCITY OF PALM DESERT PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT STAFF REPORT REQUEST: REQUEST TO DECLARE VARIOUS PIECES OF OFFICE FURNITURE AS SURPLUS AND AUTHORIZE DISPOSAL AS RECOMMENDED SUBMITTED BY: Mark Greenwood, P.E., Director of Public Works DATE August 24, 2017 ATTACHMENTS: List of Items with Photos Recommendation By Minute Motion, declare various pieces of office furniture as surplus, and authorize disposal as recommended. Strategic Plan Obiective This is an operational function and, as such, it has no impact on the Strategic Plan. Background The office furniture listed below is old and/or broken and is no longer needed. The following recommendations are made for disposal: Item 1: Plan file cabinet (City Asset Tag No. 0558) — It is recommended to surplus and recycle the metal, or scrap this cabinet. Item 2: Small desk file (no asset tag) — It is recommended to surplus and recycle, or scrap this cabinet. Item 3: Chair (no asset tag) — It is recommended to scrap this chair. Item 4: Small plan table (no asset tag) — It is recommended to scrap this table. Items 5, 6, and 7: Three lateral file cabinets (City Asset Tag Nos. 0702, 01441, and 01420) — It is recommended to surplus and recycle, or scrap these cabinets. Item 8: Plan/light table (City Asset Tag No. 02512) — This table is obsolete and no longer in use. It is recommended to scrap the table. Item 9: Computer stand (no asset tag) — No longer in use. It is recommended to scrap the computer stand. Staff Report Surplus Miscellaneous Office Furniture August 24, 2017 Page 2 of 2 Item 10: Two broken conference room chairs (no asset tags) — The arms on these chairs are torn, and the adjustment mechanism is broken. It is recommended to scrap the chairs. Item 11: Printer stand (no asset tag) — This printer stand is no longer in use, or needed. It is recommended to scrap this printer stand. Items 12, 13, 14, and 15: Four plan holders (no asset tags) — These plan holders are no longer in use, or needed. It is recommended to recycle and/or scrap the metal plan holders, and scrap the two coated wire plan holders. Items 16 and 17: Two plan table height chairs (no asset tags) — These chairs are no longer in use, or needed. It is recommended to scrap these chairs. Item 18, 19 and 20: Three, two -drawer metal file cabinets (City Asset Tag Nos. 02620 and 03824, and the third cabinet has no asset tag) — This cabinet has not been used in several years and is no longer needed. It is recommended to recycle and/or scrap this file cabinet. Item 21: Plan table light (no asset tag) — This light is no longer needed. It is recommended to scrap the light. Fiscal Analysis Approval of this request may generate funds that will go back into the City's General Fund account.
