HomeMy WebLinkAboutPrsntatn - Lt. W. Sullivan - 2012-2015Whereas, Lt. William Sullivan has lived in the City of Palm Desert for over 30
years, along with his wife Silvia, and his two daughters, Selena and Teresa; and
Whereas, in December, 1983, Lt. William Sullivan graduated from the 93d
Basic Riverside Sheriff's Academy and was soon hired by the Indio Police
Department, where he served ten years advancing to the position of Detective; and
Whereas, in 1994, he accepted a Sergeant position with the Coachella
Police department, where he served for over four years; and
Whereas, in 1998 he became a Deputy Sheriff with the Riverside County
Sheriff's Department and was assigned to the Palm Desert Station; and
Whereas, in 2000, he was promoted to Senior Deputy, in 2002 to Sergeant,
and in 2006, to Lieutenant overseeing the Correction Division with responsibility over
jail operations in Indio and Blythe. In 2009, he was transferred to the Sheriff's
Special Investigations Bureau; and
Whereas, in 2010, Lt. Sullivan returned to Palm Desert Station and oversaw
Patrol Operations, Administration, and the County Unincorporated Area. From 2011
to 2012 he served as Assistant Chief of Police for the City of Indian Wells; and
Whereas, since March 2012, he has served as the Assistant Chief of Police
for the City of Palm Desert; and
Whereas, Lt. Sullivan has both Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts Degrees
in Criminal Justice and is an Adjunct Professor at the College of the Desert and
Riverside City College; and
Whereas, Lt. Sullivan is a graduate of the 190th class of the F.B.I. National
Academy, Quantico VA., the 167th class of the Sherman Block Leadership Institute,
and the 55th class of California POST Command College.
Now, Therefore, I Robert A. Spiegel, Mayor of the City of Palm Desert,
California, Along with the Entire City Council, Do Hereby Proclaim Thursday,
January 14th, 2016, as
Lieutenant William Sullivan Day
in the City of Palm Desert and urge all residents to join me in expressing our
appreciation for his contributions and service to our community, with our best wishes
for many years of continued success in the future.
