Approve Change Order No. 1 to Contract No. C34240 with M&M Sweeping for Commercial and Residential Street Sweeping Services in the amount of $1,408.96; and 2. Authorize the Mayor to execute the Change Order. Funds are available in General Fund Account No. 1104310-4332000, R/M Streets. Background On May 14, 2015, City Council awarded Contract No. C34240 for Commercial and Residential Sweeping Services to M & M Sweeping, Inc., of Thousand Palms, California. This is a two year contract that commenced on July 1, 2015, for the amount of $139,815 per year ($279,630 total). A portion of Gerald Ford Drive between Cook Street and Frank Sinatra Drive does not meet the criteria for CVAG's PM10 Regional Sweeping Program, so it is not on their sweeping schedule. The 1.7 miles requires sweeping on a regular basis; therefore, staff Staff Report CO No. 1 to Contract No. C34240 for M&M Sweeping Page 2 of 2 January 14, 2016 contacted M & M Sweeping and they have agreed to include it in the City's street sweeping schedule at the contract rate of $22.50 per mile. The addional area will be swept starting February 1, 2016, for the remainder of the contract term (17 months) for the additional cost of $82.88 per month. This change will increase the contract by $1,408.96; bringing the contract amount to $281,038.96. The Contractor shall construct, furnish equipment and materials, and perform all work as necessary or required to complete the Change Order items for a lump sum price agreed upon between the Contractor and the City of Palm Desert, otherwise referred to as Owner. Contract Time Extension 0 Days. Revised Contract Total $281,038.96 The undersigned Contractor approves the foregoing Change Order # 1 as to the changes, if any, in the contract price specified for each item including any and all supervision costs and other miscellaneous costs relating to the change in work, and as to the extension of time allowed, if any, for completion of the entire work on account of said Change Order # 1 . The Contractor agrees to furnish all labor and materials and perform all other necessary work, inclusive of that directly or indirectly related to the approved time extension, required to complete the Change Order items. This document will become a supplement of the contract and all provisions will apply hereto. It is understood that the Change Order shall be effective when approved by the Owner.
