ADMINISTRATIVE CONFERENCE ROOM 73-510 FRED WARING DRIVE, PALM DESERT, CA 92260 CALL TO ORDER Chair Cory Hutchinson convened the meeting at 6:00 p.m. II. PRESENTATIONS General Plan Presentation — Tony Bagato, Acting Director, Community Development MINUTES PALM DESERT YOUTH COMMITTEE NOVEMBER 2, 2015 V. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A. MINUTES of the October 5, 2015, Palm Desert Youth Committee meeting Upon motion by Member Schmidman, second by Member Wood, and a 10-0-5 vote of the Youth Committee (AYES: Brossfield, Dan, Hutchinson, C. Kim, L. Kim, Sanford, Schmidman, Seiberg, Shaw, and Wood; NOES: None; ABSTENTIONS: None; ABSENT: Ahmad, Chaplin, Goldstone, Olson, and Sandoval-Heglund), the October 5, 2015, Minutes were approved as presented. VI. NEW BUSINESS A. APPOINTMENT of Members to lead the Pledge of Allegiance and provide an update on Youth Committee activities at the November 12, 2015 and December 10, 2015, City Council Meetings. Upon consensus by the Committee, Member Sanford was appointed to lead the Pledge of Allegiance and provide an update on Youth Committee activities at the November 12, 2015 City Council Meeting, and Member Dan was appointed to lead the Pledge of Allegiance and provide an update on Youth Committee activities at the December 10, 2015 City Council Meeting. VII. OLD BUSINESS Student Art and Essay Contest Theme — Palm Desert: Sky, Mountains, and Sunsets. How Can Palm Desert Be More Sustainable? VIII. CONTINUED BUSINESS None IX. REPORTS AND REMARKS A. COUNCIL MEMBERS No Report B. STAFF - The Sustainability party at Lincoln School went well. - Requested all members to turn in signed travel and participation forms. 2 MINUTES PALM DESERT YOUTH COMMITTEE NOVEMBER 2, 2015 C. COMMITTEE MEMBERS 1. Events a. Golf Cart Parade — October 25, 2015 The event went well. b. Wreath Lighting — December 4, 2015 Staff circulated a sign-up sheet. c. Lincoln Afterschool Program Holiday Party — December 9, 2015 d. PDCMS Afterschool Program Presentation — January 21, 2016 This will be a presentation to solicit new members. e. Youth/Senior Technology Event — No interest f. Clothes and Book Exchange — No discussion g. Senior Inspiration Awards — No discussion h. Anti -Bullying Presentation — No discussion 2. Proiects None 3. Youth Committee Subcommittee Updates a. Anti -bullying Subcommittee Members Brossfield, Hutchinson, C. Kim, Sanford, Schmidman, Seiberg, Wood, and Alternates Hezkiya and Johnson signed up. b. Legislative Review Committee No report c. ADJOURNMENT NOVEMBER 2, 2015 Public Safety Commission — Member Sanford - The City will receive a new fire truck. - Commission approved the Shop with a Cop Program. - A new emergency coordinator has been appointed to work with Palm Desert and La Quinta.
