SUBMITTED BY: Rachelle D. Klassen, City Clerk DATE: February 11, 2016 CONTENTS: • Staff Report • LOCC Mayors and Councilmembers Executive Forum • June 2016 Calendar Recommendation By Minute Motion, concur with staffs recommendation and schedule adjourning the Thursday, June 23, Regular City Council Meeting to Thursday, June 30, in order for Councilmembers to attend the League of California Cities' 2016 Mayors and Council Members Executive Forum, June 22-24, in Monterey. Background During the week of February 1, staff was advised about announcement of the League of California Cities' 2016 Mayors and Council Members Executive Forum to be held in Monterey, June 22-24, which is a very worthwhile educational conference. Council's regular June 2016 meetings are scheduled to be held on the 9th and 23`d. It's likely that a quorum of the Council wishes to take part in the Forum, and it is encouraged that they do so. If this is the case, it will require rescheduling the June 23 Meeting to take care of all the business needing to be done at that time, including numerous service contracts that coincide with the Fiscal Year and adoption of the 2016-2017 Budget that commences on July 1. To date at the writing of this report, Councilmembers' calendars are clear for June 30. Of additional note, generally there is limited registration and housing availability for the Forum for the first 250 Mayors and Councilmembers, and if scheduled well enough in advance, everyone will have the opportunity to schedule accordingly. Optimally, holding the second meeting in June on the fifth Thursday (this year) would be preferable to holding two meetings back-to-back on June 9 and June 16. With this much advance notice, staff can adjust all its scheduled action items to be placed on either the Rescheduling June 23, 2016, Regular City Council Meeting February 11, 2016 Page No. 2 June 9 or June 30 agendas, and the public can also be given sufficient advance notice about this change. Fiscal Analvsis No direct fiscal impact for this matter. Submitted by: 1' L Raaelle D. Klassen -M City Clerk A ved: o n M.
