Grant an exception to vendor bidding requirements, as provided for by Section 3.32.090 of the Municipal Code, for Fiscal Year 2016/2017; and 2. Approve the Special Programs Department's Preferred Vendor List. Strateqic Plan Obiective N/A Discussion Vendors included on the Special Programs Department's Preferred Vendor List for FY 2016/17 tend to offer immediate accessibility, specialized products, and/or wholesale/discounted pricing. Granting an exception to the bidding requirements for these specialty vendors will simplify the process of purchasing and acquiring services required to implement various programs, projects, and events, and will allow staff to operate on a more efficient level. These vendors offer specialized services specifically related to the following: - City produced events, such as the Concerts in the Park, Independence Day Celebration, etc. - Solid Waste and Recycling Programs, such as the business recycling program and programs and events reimbursed through grant funding. - Palm Desert Citizens on Patrol Program (e.g. uniform purchase, uniform dry cleaning, etc.) STAFF REPORT STREAMLINED USE OF VENDORS FOR SPECIAL PROGRAMS DEPARTMENT FY 2016/17 APRIL 28, 2016 PAGE 2 Staff recommends City Council grant an exception to the vendor bidding requirements and approve the Special Programs Department's Preferred Vendor List for FY 2016/17.
