Declare ten pairs of soccer goals as surplus; 2. Authorize the donation of four pairs of goals to the Coachella Valley Desert Soccer League; and 3. Dispose of six sets of goals as scrapped metal. Strategic Plan Obiective This is an on -going operations and maintenance function and, as such, does not directly contribute to the objectives of the Strategic Plan. Backqround The city -owned stationary soccer goals that have been in use at the Hovley Soccer Park for approximately 20 years are no longer compliant with current soccer regulations. The cost of replacing the goals is included in the Fiscal Year 2016-17 budget. In an effort to repurpose the goals, staff contacted the Coachella Valley Desert Soccer League and the Yucaipa Valley Youth Soccer Organization to see if they could make use of the equipment. The Coachella Valley Desert Soccer League will take four pairs of the goals, and staff recommends that the requested four pairs be donated to the Coachella Valley Desert Soccer League. That league will retrofit the goals as needed. Staff recommends that the remaining six sets of goals be disassembled and scrapped as metal recycling.
