Joshua Robertson displayed on April 14, 2016, an elderly man's life was
saved; and
Whereas, at 7:40 a.m. Sheriffs Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call
reporting the medical emergency and a patrol unit was immediately
dispatched; and
Whereas, Officer Robertson heard the call on his radio and realized
he was much closer to the location and had the advantage of responding
more quickly; and
Whereas, at 7:43 a.m. Officer Robertson arrived and assessed the
situation, realizing the man needed CPR; and
Whereas, at 7.46 a.m. Officer Bazanos arrived at the scene and
witnessed Officer Robertson performing CPR. Riverside County Fire
arrived shortly thereafter; and
Whereas, at 7.54 a.m. Engine 55, M.E.-55 and Engine 33
assumed life-saving measures. The elderly man was subsequently
stabilized and transported to the Eisenhower Medical Center; and
Whereas, on April 21, Officer Robertson called the hospital to get
an update on the man and spoke directly with him. He confirmed that he
had suffered a heart attack and expressed immense gratitude to Officer
Robertson for saving his life; and
Whereas, coincidentally, this incident occurred the morning after
Officer Robertson was recognized with a life-saving award at the 2016
Riverside County Sheriff's Award Ceremony for a similar incident in 2015.
Now, Therefore, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert,
California, Does Hereby Proclaim Thursday, June 9, 2016, as
Officer Joshua Robertson Day
in the City of Palm Desert and urges all residents to join us in expressing
our appreciation for his contribution and service to our community, with our
best wishes for the future.
