HomeMy WebLinkAboutPrsntatn - Officer P.Montalvo DayWhereas, after responding to a call for service earlier this year,
Officer Patrick Montalvo went above and beyond the call of duty; and
Whereas, an elderly Palm Desert resident became distraught when
the moving company she had hired increased the rate for their services on
moving day; and
Whereas, with a very limited budget, no friends or family in the
Coachella Valley, medical conditions and physical limitations, the elderly
woman had no idea what she could do, so she called for law enforcement
intervention; and
Whereas, Officer Patrick Montalvo responded, assessed the
situation, and realized he could not intervene between the two parties. He
quickly promised her that he would come up with a solution; and
Whereas, after making arrangements with his family, his father,
mother, two brothers, one sister and a family friend all showed up the next
morning and completed the move; and
Whereas, driving from the Imperial Valley to Palm Desert this group
of six strangers reached out to help someone in need and even refused
any kind of payment for their time and labor; and
Whereas, the elderly woman stated "I cannot stop talking about his
unconditional resolve. He made me a believer there are good cops." She
described the family as caring, loving and fun and that Officer Montalvo's
obvious compassion and respect for humanity clearly runs throughout the
entire family.
Now, Therefore, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert,
California, Does Hereby Proclaim Thursday, June 9, 2016, as
Officer Patrick Montalvo Day
in the City of Palm Desert and urges all residents to join us in expressing
our appreciation for his contribution and service to our community, with our
