Recommendation
By Minute Motion, approve the use of Desert Recycling, Inc., for dump
fees during FY 2016/17 in an amount not to exceed $40,000.
Funds are available in General Fund Account No. 1104310-4332000, R/M Streets.
Strategic Plan Obiective
This is an on -going maintenance function and as such, does not directly contribute to
the objectives of the Strategic Plan.
Background
Desert Recycling, Inc., is listed on the Maintenance Services Division Various Vendors
and Qualified Service Providers List that is approved annually by City Council. This list
grants exception to the bidding requirements up to a maximum of $25,000 per vendor.
Staff used to keep an open purchase order for the monthly dump fees used to recycle
the sand, concrete, and/or asphalt collected throughout the year. However, due to the
unusually high winds and staffs assistance to CVAG, the dump fees have exceed the
maximum amount allowed under the open purchase order.
Therefore, staff requests approval to use Desert Recycling during FY 2016/17 in an
amount not to exceed $40,000.

Fiscal Analysis
This is an on -going maintenance activity with no fiscal impact beyond the contract
amount.
