Recommendation
By Minute Motion:
1. Authorize an amendment to Contract No. C34940A with Hurdzan Golf
to provide additional construction administration services for the Desert
Willow Golf Firecliff Bunker Renovation Project in the amount not to
exceed $5,000.
2. Appropriate $5,000 from Desert Willow Capital Improvement Fund 441
to Account No. 4414195-4809200.
Background
On June 9, 2016, the City Council authorized Contract No. 34940A with Hurdzan Golf in
the amount not to exceed $20,000 to provide construction administration services for
the Desert Willow Firecliff Bunker Renovation Project. Hurdzan Golf is the original golf
course architect for both Desert Willow golf courses and recently completed the City's 3-
5 year capital improvement master plan for the entire Desert Willow Golf Resort.
As part of the existing construction administration services contract, Hurdzan Golf was
contracted to provide the following services:
• Provide (3) site visits to provide specific field direction to the contractor and
review the implementation the Firecliff Bunker Renovation plans and
specifications.
• Assistance with review of contractor Requests for Information (RFI's),
clarifications and potential Change Order Requests. The construction
administration services also include the review of progress payments.

Discussion:
Hurdzan Golf has reviewed the progress of the Firecliff Bunker Renovation Project and
provided (3) site visits on the following dates:
• May 17-18, 2016 — Initial Contractor direction to commence project
• June 8-9, 2016 — Review of construction progress (25%), inspection of first 4
holes, bunker design, drainage, liner, sand and sod installation
• August 1-2, 2016 — Review of construction progress (60%)
Due to the complexity of the project and the significant field adjustments requiring input
from the golf course architect, our projected third and final site visit was required to be
accelerated to August. During the third site visit, the architect inspected the
construction progress and provided direction to the contractor on the grading contours
required to provide a seamless transition where bunkers were eliminated.
Staff seeks approval of a contract amendment to provide one additional site visit from
Hurdzan Golf once the project is complete. The final site visit will allow the architect to
review the completed project and assist in providing a final punch list. Staff
recommends that the City approve a contract amendment in the amount not to exceed
$5,000 for the additional construction administration services required to complete the
Firecliff Bunker Renovation Project. This cost includes the architect's final site visit, plus
reimbursement of travel expenses.
Fiscal Analvsis
The construction administration services required to complete the bunker renovation
project are in the amount not to exceed $5,000. Funds are available in the Desert
Willow Capital Improvement Fund 441 and staff recommends an appropriation to
Account No. 4414195-4809200.

This Professional Service Amendment covers changes to the subject contract as described herein. The Consultant
shall perform all work as necessary or required to complete the Professional Service Amendment items for a lump
sum price agreed upon between the Consultant and the City of Palm Desert, otherwise referred to as Owner.
Contract Time Extension N/A Days.
Revised Contract Total $25,000
The undersigned Consultant approves the foregoing Professional Service Amendment # 1 as to the changes, if any,
in the contract price specified for each item including any and all supervision costs and other miscellaneous costs
relating to the change in work, and as to the extension of time allowed, if any, for completion of the entire work on
account of said Professional Service Amendment # 1 . The Consultant agrees to furnish all labor and materials and
perform all other necessary work, inclusive of that directly or indirectly related to the approved time extension, required
to complete the Professional Service Amendment items. This document will become a supplement of the contract and
all provisions will apply hereto. It is understood that the Professional Service Amendment shall be effective when
approved by the Owner.
Execution of this Professional Service Amendment by the Consultant constitutes a binding accord and satisfaction that
fully satisfies, waives, and releases the Owner from all claims, demands, costs, and liabilities, in contract, law or
equity, arising out of or related to the subject of the Professional Service Amendment, whether known or unknown,
including but not limited to direct and indirect costs and/or damages for delay, disruption, acceleration, and loss of
productivity, as well as any and all consequential damages.
This document will become a supplement to the Contract and all provisions will apply hereto, all items included above
must have required signatures as per the purchase resolution.
