REQUEST: Waive further reading and adopt Resolution No. 2015- 03
amending resolution No. 2014-70, allocated classifications and
reclassifying Human Resources Technician to Human Resources
Assistant.

Recommendation:
Waive further reading and adopt Resolution No. 2015- 03 amending
Resolution No. 2014-70, Allocated Classifications, adding the position of
Human Resources Assistant, Salary Grade 95, and revising the allocation
for the position of Human Resources Technician, Salary Grade 113 in the
Human Resource's department.
Executive Summary:
One of the Human Resources Technicians retired effective December 30, 2014.
Staff recommends filling the position at an entry level classification of Human
Resources Assistant. This is in keeping with the City's goal to realign starting
salaries with the marketplace while providing a framework for growth and
opportunity within career series.

The Fiscal Impact is an overall salary savings, as the position is being filled at a
much lower salary. The current range for Human Resources Technician is
Grade 113: $61,922 - $84,989 annually, which will be reduced to Human
Resources Assistant Grade 95: $37,752 - $51,796 annually.
Fiscal Analysis:
Salary Savings of approximately $22,000 for the balance of FY 2014/2015.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM
DESERT, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING PORTIONS OF RESOLUTION NO.
2014-70, SALARY SCHEDULE, SALARY RANGES, AND ALLOCATED
CLASSIFICATIONS.
WHEREAS, the City of Palm Desert has hereto established salary schedules,
ranges, and allocated classifications and desires to modify and amend that system in
the regards as set forth below:
WHEREAS, the recommended staffing change was identified to improve
administrative functions and appropriately classify positions;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm
Desert, California, that Sections I & II of Resolution No. 2014-70 be amended as
follows:
