Commission Recommendation The Palm Desert Public Safety Commission will review this matter at their January 14, 2014, meeting and staff will inform the City Council if they vote not to approve this matter. Background The City's Purchasing Policies and Procedures require bidding of services over $1,000. To expedite required public safety equipment purchases and maintenance, staff has annually prepared a list of authorize vendors for such specialty equipment and services. Vendors are identified in the attached Riverside County Sheriff's Department memorandum dated January 6, 2015 and Riverside County Fire Department email dated January 7, 2015. Please note that in addition to equipment and maintenance vendors, this list also contains specialty services as well (i.e. trauma scene clean-up/restoration and chemical laboratory testing services). Staff Report: Authorized Public Safety Vendors January 22, 2015 Page 2 of 2 Fiscal Analysis Approval of staff's recommendation would permit the Palm Desert Police and Fire Department to service their related equipment owned by the City, as well as purchasing certain specialty equipment and services as needed. Due to these different manufactures, and equipment, there are different vendors that install and service this equipment. Only 4 BMW motorcycles are still covered under warranty. In addition to the motorcycles, the traffic team is responsible for the Commercial Enforcement vehicle, DUI trailer, other various traffic equipment, and traffic scene cleanups.
