Recommendation
By Minute Motion, authorize out-of-state travel for the Director of Public
Works and the Transportation Engineer to attend the International
Transportation Engineers (ITE) Western District Meeting in Las Vegas,
Nevada, from July 19 through July 22, 2015.
Funds are available in Account No. 110-4300-413-3120, Administration

Background
In order to maintain his Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification, it
is necessary for the Director of Public Works to fulfill continuing education requirements.
It is also beneficial for the Transportation Engineer to stay current with developments in
the transportation industry. The most efficient and cost effective way to achieve this is to
attend professional conferences such as the ITE Western District Meeting. This year
the meeting is being held in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the cost for registration,
transportation and travel related expenses will be approximately $1,500 each for a total
of $3,000.
