Recommendation
By Minute Motion, appoint Robert J. Leo to the City of Palm Desert Audit, Investment & Finance
Committee to fill the remainder of Joseph Pradetto's term (December 31, 2017).
Background
At Council's February 12, 2015, Meeting, it appointed Joseph P. Pradetto to the Planning Commission to
fill the vacancy left by Roger Dash's resignation. Mr. Pradetto had been a member of the City's Audit,
Investment & Finance (AIF) Committee from February 2014 up to that point. His reassignment to the
Planning Commission left a vacancy on the AIF Committee with a term expiration of December 31, 2017.
Mr. Robert J. Leo has been a member of the Citizens' Sustainability Committee since the inaugural group
was appointed in 2011. He has decided that he'd like to serve the City in another manner and tendered his
resignation from that body on March 30, 2015 (to be accepted on today's meeting agenda under Section X -
Consent Calendar). Mayor Weber spoke with him recently and indicated that there was a current opening
on the Audit, Investment & Finance Committee that he may be interested in. He is interested and submitted
an Application for this purpose. Your approval of the appointment is requested.

Dear Mayor Weber,
I have served on the Citizens Sustainability Committee since its creation and have found it a stimulating
and rewarding experience. The committee has accomplished a number of the objectives laid out by the
Councilmembers with the ultimate vision that the City of Palm Desert will not only be sustainable but
also be a leader in the field. With the support of the Council the committee is helping to create that
vision.
It is time for me to move on. I have other interests that need nurturing and other opportunities to serve
the people of Palm Desert. Therefore, I formally resign from the Sustainability Committee effective
immediately.
Once again, thank you for your confidence and support during my tenure.
Robert J. Leo, Ph.D.
