superior academic performance and exemplary extracurricular
activities; and
Whereas, among Kaylie's accomplishments is a remarkable
GPA of 5.09 at Palm Desert High School and an exceptional SAT
score of 2370; and
Whereas, she is president of the Key Club International,
president of the National Honor Society, and vice-president of the
California Scholarship Federation; and
Whereas, Kaylie is a member of the Palm Desert Youth
Committee as well as the Riverside County's 4th District Youth
Advisory Council and has been recognized for her outstanding
service as a volunteer at the Eisenhower Medical Center; and
Whereas, Kaylie is a National Merit Scholarship finalist, an
AP scholar with distinction, and placed first in the World Affairs
Council Academic WorldQuest Regional event, advancing to the
national competition in April; and
Whereas, besides being ranked second in her class as
salutatorian at Palm Desert High School, Kaylie was given a
Riverside County Student Academic Award on April 15th for being
among the top ten students in the entire County. Kaylie will be
attending Yale University in the fall.
Now, Therefore, I, Susan Marie Weber, Mayor of the
City of Palm Desert, California, Along With the Entire City Council,
Do Hereby Proclaim Thursday, May 14, 2015, as
Kaylie Chen Day
in the City of Palm Desert and urge all residents to join me in
expressing our appreciation for her contributions and service to our
community, with our best wishes for prolonged success in the future.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand
