HomeMy WebLinkAboutPresentation - B. Clymer - The Body ShopPRESS RELEASE: Palm Desert Family Receives Life Changing
Gift
Arrow Picasso has struggled most of her life but on March 12`" her life
will be made much easier with the gift of a car from Ben Clymer's The
Body Shop.
Arrow was raised in foster care since the age of 11. Ten years ago she
was divorced and lost her job due to the economy. At that time she had
to sell her car to pay her rent. Three years ago Arrow became employed
at her current job as an administrative assistant at the Omni Rancho Las
Palmas and she purchased a 1997 car. This car is in need of repairs
which Arrow cannot afford. She takes the bus to work, rides her bike or
depends on the kindness of friends.
Having a dependable car will enable Arrow to get to work but it will also
enable her to spend more time with her son. Arrow shares joint custody
but sometimes she is unable to have her son with her as she does not have
transportation to get him to his activities.
In her application Arrow said that she is tired of living off of pay day
loans and that she really just needs "room to breathe". She said a reliable
car will give her freedom and allow her to gain a sense of pride.
The public is invited to share in Arrow's joy at the presentation.
Date of Presentation: March 12, 2015

Background and history of event.
The Benevolence Car Give Away (BCGA) is one of the ways the Clymer Family gives
back to the local community. The BCGA is not just a hand out, it is a hand up.
This event has been designed to help those, to no fault of their own, who have fallen on
hard times but have demonstrated that they are not the type to be defeated and live on
hand- outs. They are working to better themselves and their circumstances.
Clymer's have partnered with the Automobile Club of Southern California to donate a
free rebuilt car to a carefully selected person within the city of Palm Desert. AAA
donates a total loss vehicle to Ben Clymer's The Body Shop. All the team members at
the repair shop donate their time to repair the vehicle back to pre -loss condition. Vendors
that work with Ben Clymer's also donate parts and materials to restore the car. Ben
Clymer's The Body Shop also provides 1 year of Registration and AAA Insurance.
This will be our 131h BCGA in the last 7 years at other Ben Clymer locations but this is
the first annual event at the Palm Desert location.
On this day, it is all about the life changing event for the deserving recipient.
Please join us for our I" annual Ben Clymer's The Body Shop Palm Desert BCGA.

Recycled RidesTm national charitable program assists Palm Desert family
PALM DESERT, CALIF. (April 27, 2015)—Responsibilities associated with caring for a family
with special needs became more manageable today for a Palm Desert mother who accepted
the gift of a free automobile, donated through the National Auto Body Council's Recycled
RidesTM charitable program.
Rosa Magana of Palm Desert accepted the keys and took possession of a 2009 Toyota Camry
donated by Allstate Insurance Company in California, restored by Ben Clymer's The Body Shop
in Palm Desert, and presented during the spring convention of the PPG global coatings and
surfaces company that began here today.
Recycled RidesTM is a national program by the National Auto Body Council where its member
companies in the collision industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to families and service
organizations in need. Since the program's inception in 2007, nearly 1,000 vehicles have been
donated nationwide by members of the National Auto Body Council.
"This contribution allows the Magana family to focus energies on what most important —their
health and well-being, and their continuing contributions to our community," said Max Johartchi,
Allstate agency owner in Palm Desert. "The car is a symbol of the importance of keeping our
neighborhoods vital, where people want to live, work and raise their families."
"Recycled Rides is a life -changing experience not just for the recipient but for everyone who
participated and contributed to this vehicle donation," said Chuck Sulkala, Executive Director of
the National Auto Body Council. "We are very proud that through Recycled Rides, members of
the National Auto Body Council —including Ben Clymer's, Allstate Insurance and PPG
Automotive Refinish —are able to collaborate and provide reliable transportation for the Magana
family."
About Recycled Rides: Recycled RidesTM is a community awareness project whereby
