HomeMy WebLinkAboutPresentation - M. A. Malter DayWhereas, as a young girl growing up in Kentucky and Tennessee,
Maria Malter developed a strong love for and a way with all animals,
especially watching horses go by her home and asking the riders if she
could ride along with them, even if it meant having to walk back home
some distance after those riders had reached their destination; and
Whereas, her love for animals continued and grew as she relocated
to the West Coast, became a wife, mother, and a very successful business
owner in Southern California; and
Whereas, she and her husband traveled extensively around the
world, including taking some seventy cruises, and in her travels whenever
the opportunity presented itself, she was able to stop, admire, and, given
her inherent way with them, interact closely with all types of animals; and
Whereas, Maria and her husband retired to the Coachella Valley
twenty years ago; and
Whereas, after learning that K-9 Van Snapp was being retired from
the Palm Desert Police Department in 2015, Maria's lifelong love of animals
and appreciation for the police inspired her to make a ten thousand dollar
donation toward the City's next K-9 officer in order for another to be
acquired and trained immediately.
Now, Therefore, I, Susan Marie Weber, Mayor of the City of
Palm Desert, California, Along With the Entire City Council, Do Hereby
