REQUEST: APPROVE THE USE OF DESERT RECYCLING, INC., FOR
DUMP FEES DURING FISCAL YEAR 2015/16 IN AN AMOUNT

Recommendation
By Minute Motion, approve the use of Desert Recycling, Inc., for dump
fees during Fiscal Year 2015/16 in an amount not to exceed $40,000.
Funds are available in General Fund Account No. 1104310-4332000, R/M Streets.
Background
Desert Recycling, Inc., is listed on the Maintenance Services Division Various Vendors
and Qualified Service Providers List that is approved annually by City Council. This list
grants exception to the bidding requirements up to a maximum of $25,000 per vendor.
Staff kept an open purchase order for the monthly dump fees used to recycle the sand,
concrete, and/or asphalt collected throughout the year. However, due to the unusually
high winds and staff's assistance to CVAG, the dump fees have exceeded the
maximum amount allowed under the open purchase order.
Therefore, staff requests approval to use of Desert Recycling during FY15/16 in an
amount not to exceed $40,000.

Fiscal Analysis
This is an on -going maintenance activity with no fiscal impact beyond the contract
amount.
