Recommendation
By Minute Motion, appoint Ms. Mahasti Islami of The Gardens on El Paseo to the
Marketing Committee, filling the unexpired term of Sara O'Flynn.
Background
City Council accepted the resignation of Sara O'Flynn at its June 11, 2015 meeting
leaving a position available on the City's Marketing Committee. Ms. Islami is the new
Marketing Director for The Gardens on El Paseo. She has expressed a strong interest
in serving the community and has attended at least three meetings of the Marketing
Committee to date.
Current Marketing Committee by-laws state that the Committee shall be comprised of
no more than eleven (11) members representing a large hotel, a small hotel/motel, a
large retailer, a small retailer, a shopping center, a restaurant, culture/arts, real estate, a
local attraction and two tourism advocates. Appointment of Ms. Islami would fulfill the
by-laws requirement of a member representing a Palm Desert Shopping Center.
