Background City Council appointed Jeff Kokinacis to the Hotel and Signature Event Committee at its April 24, 2014 meeting. Mr. Kokinacis was never present nor sworn in, leaving a vacancy on the committee. Mr. Moran is the general manager for Westin Desert Willow Villas Palm Desert. He has expressed a strong interest in serving on this committee and has served on similar committees. Current Hotel and Signature Events Committee by-laws state that the Committee shall be comprised of no more than seven (7) members representing a large hotel, a small hotel/motel, and a professional within the Convention and Visitors Bureau. Appointment of Mr. Moran would fulfill the by-laws requirement of a member representing a large hotel. I have been a General Manager with Westin Hotels and Resorts for the past 10 years, both in Rancho Mirage, and for the past 5 years, The City of Palm Desert.
