social and economic well-being of its citizens, employees and employers.
That well-being depends upon the existence of healthy and productive
employees working in safe and abuse -free environments; and
Whereas, research has documented the stress -related health
consequences for individuals caused by exposure to abusive work
environments; and
Whereas, abusive work environments are costly for employers, with
consequences that include reduced productivity, absenteeism, turnover,
employee health -related expenses; and
Whereas, protection from abusive work environments should apply to
every worker and not be limited to legally protected class status based only on
race, color, gender, national origin, age, or disability.
Now, Therefore, I, Susan Marie Weber, Mayor of the City of
Palm Desert, Along With the Entire City Council, Do Hereby Proclaim the
week of October 18-24, 2015, as
Freedom from Workplace
Bullies Week
in the City of Palm Desert and urge all employees and citizens to raise
awareness of the issues caused by workplace bullies in order to help prevent
this in our City's workplaces.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand
and have caused the Official Seal of the Cit of Palm
Desert, California, to be affixed this 10 h day of
September, 2015.
