SUBMITTED BY: Lori Carney, Human Resources Manager DATE: September 10, 2015 CONTENTS: Resolution No. 2015- 80 Recommendation: Waive further reading and adopt Resolution No. 2015- 80 amending Resolution No. 2015-62, Allocated Classifications, reclassifying the position of Visitor Center Supervisor, Salary Grade 114, to Tourism and Marketing Specialist, Salary Grade 114 (no change in salary.) Executive Summary: On June 11, 2015, the City Council approved the Visitor Center Transition Plan, including moving Visitor Information operations to City Hall and retitling the position of Visitor Center Supervisor. The transition plan calls for the reorganization of Visitor Information services from a standalone "center" to more virtual services and reorganizes the duties of the remaining staff. The duties and responsibilities of the incumbent Visitor Center Supervisor are being changed to provide more emphasis on support for social media, tourism marketing, visitor outreach and "virtual visitor center" operations. The title is being revised to Tourism & Marketing Specialist to reflect these changes, Staff Report Amend Salary Resolution January 8, 2015 Page 2 of 2 No. 2014-70 — Human Resources Assistant however there is no change to the salary grade. A new job classification specification has been drafted to reflect the changed emphasis and essential functions. Fiscal Analysis: There is no change in salary grade therefore there is no Fiscal Impact. Wohlmuth, City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 2015- 80 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING PORTIONS OF RESOLUTION NO. 2015-62, SALARY SCHEDULE, SALARY RANGES, AND ALLOCATED CLASSIFICATIONS. WHEREAS, the City of Palm Desert has hereto established salary schedules, ranges, and allocated classifications and desires to modify and amend that system in the regards as set forth below: WHEREAS, the recommended staffing change was identified to improve administrative functions and appropriately classify positions; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, that Sections I & II of Resolution No. 2015-62 be amended as follows: SECTION I - SALARY SCHEDULE, RANGES & ALLOCATED CLASSIFICATIONS Economic Development. DELETE: AUTHORIZED POSITION NO 441920078 CLASSIFICATION Visitor Center Supervisor GRADE POSITIONS 114 1 Resolution 2015- 8o - Salary Resolution Amendment ADD (replace with): AUTHORIZED POSITION NO. CLASSIFICATION GRADE 441920080 Tourism & Marketing Specialist 114 SECTION II — EXEMPT PERSONNEL POSITIONS 1 Remove Visitor Center Supervisor and replace with Tourism & Marketing Specialist.
