Motivation:
I am requesting appointment to the PALM SPRINGS AIRPORT COMMISSION.
While acting in my capacity of Citizens on Patrol, one of my duties was to patrol the Palm Springs Airport. In so doing, t
here were questions that I was asked, situations that I encountered and actions by others, including passengers, that I o
bserved, some of which should be bought to the attention of the Airport Commission.
In addition, I am I frequent flyer and see how I am treated as a “civilian.” I also take note of what works or does not wor
k in other airports.
I believe that my unique combination of the above two scenarios will allow me to bring valuable insight to the commissi
on. While the safety of passengers is of paramount importance, common sense, good will and good customer service s
hould never be discounted.
Thank you for your consideration.

History:
Mr. Murphy is an attorney in the Coachella Valley. He and I first met as part of a case
he was working on. Over time, he and his family (wife Nina and two children, Connor
and Jake) became friends with my wife, daughter and I. His two children (now in High
School) have been "school-mates" with my daughter for a number of years. We have
had the opportunity to vacation with them and hosted each other in our homes for
Page 41
events/celebrations. The relationship between ourselves and our families has now
spanned over fifteen years. He is a man that I admire for his commitment to family,
his desire to be involved in the community and a combination of his ability to engage
people.

Additional Infomation
Additional Information:
Mr. Murphy is one of the most fair-minded people I know. He is grounded in a strong
sense of family and desire to leave the world a better place. In an era where political
divide seems the order of the day, Shaun is able to discuss politics and policy views in
a manner that leads to open conversation and an exchange of ideas. While we are
nine separate cities (and unincorporated areas), assets such as the Palm Springs
Airport serve all of us and our region is best served having representatives that
understand how air/cargo service impacts our local community and economy. Mr.
Murphy is someone that understands this asset and importance. Thank you for
considering Shaun Murphy for a role representing our community and region.
