MINUTES
OCTOBER 27, 2020

The meeting was called to order at 12:30 p.m.

IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: October 13, 2020
ACTION:
Commissioner Levin moved to approve the October 13, 2020 meeting
minutes. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Lambell and carried by a
6-0-1 vote, with Lambell, Levin, McAuliffe, McIntosh Schmid, and Van Vliet,
voting YES and Vuksic abstaining.

V. CASES:
A. Final Drawings:
1. CASE NO: SARC 20-0005
APPLICANT AND ADDRESS: SHORT STOP CORPORATION,
74478 Highway 111, Palm Desert, CA 92260
NATURE OF PROJECT/APPROVAL SOUGHT: Consideration to
convert the Chevron gas station to a Sinclair gas station. The project
includes a new wall sign, re-facing two (2) existing monument signs,
painting the canopy green and adding signage, and adding a
decorative dinosaur along Deep Canyon Road within the
landscaping area.
LOCATION: 74-478 Highway 111
ZONE: DE
Mr. Kevin Swartz, Associate Planner, reminded the Commission this
item appeared before them on October 13, 2020.
ACTION:
Commissioner Lambell moved to approve refacing two (2) monument signs
and adding signage and logo decal to the existing canopy subject to: 1)
applicant leaving building signage as is; 2) staff to review the original
landscape plan, and owner shall add additional landscaping to match the
original plan; 3) submit renderings and material for the dinosaur artwork on
the corner; 4) address the Cam’s Corner sign; and 5) staff to research the
original approval of the Cam’s Corner signage and the landscape plan.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Vuksic and carried by a 7-0 vote,
with Lambell, Levin, McAuliffe, McIntosh, Schmid, Van Vliet, and Vuksic
voting YES.
B. Preliminary Plans:
1. CASE NO: PP 19-0010
APPLICANT AND ADDRESS: DMA, 35493 Veranda Avenue,
Wildomar, CA 92595
NATURE OF PROJECT/APPROVAL SOUGHT: Consideration to
review exterior elevations for a new industrial building. This project
was approved by the Planning Commission and conditioned to return
to ARC for design review.

Mr. Nick Melloni, Assistant Planner, reminded the Commission this item
was continued at the October 13, 2020 meeting.
ACTION:
Commissioner McIntosh moved to preliminarily approve subject to: 1)
deleting the left and right awnings and extending the center awnings across
the series of four (4) second story windows on the north elevation; and 2)
staff will review and approve the modified awnings. Motion was seconded
by Commissioner Levin and carried by a 5-0-2 vote, with Lambell, Levin,
McAuliffe, McIntosh, and Schmid voting YES and Van Vliet and Vuksic
abstaining.

Commissioner Levin moved to adjourn the Architectural Review Commission
meeting at 1:25 p.m.
