HomeMy WebLinkAbout19A Memorandum - Q&As (04-14-22) CITY OF PALM DESERT CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM To: Honorable Mayor and Councilmembers From: Heather Horning, Assistant to the City Manager Date: April 14, 2022 Subject: City Council Agenda (April 14, 2022) Below you will find questions received from the Mayor and/or Councilmembers and answers provided by City staff regarding tonight’s Council meeting agenda. Action Calendar – Item 19: • Question: Is there a plan to secure resident input on the designs for the improved park? o Answer: The item on this agenda related to Palma Village Park is requesting authorization to utilize State Parks and Recreation funding to upgrade existing lighting at the park and replace existing park tables and benches. This project was developed based on community feedback received from a survey sent to neighboring residents in 2021. The results showed that residents highlighted safety as an area in need of improvement. Additional community input is not currently planned for this project in Palma Village Park. Community outreach will be conducted in the coming months for another improvement to Palma Village Park that will include the potential removal of the beach volleyball court and replacement with a street hockey rink. Other options will be presented such as security cameras and additional shade structures. Resident feedback will be requested via a postcard mailer with a QR code to a brief questionnaire.
