NATURE OF PROJECT/APPROVAL SOUGHT: Request to install a retractable canvas awning with signage. LOCATION: Corner of El Paseo and Larkspur Lane. ZONE: C-1, S.P. Mr. Smith indicated that this was an application to install a retractable canvas awning with signage for Rommittis Restaurant. The commissioners were concerned with the location of the awning and recommended that it be set a foot or two north of the south fascia in order to hide the exposed end. Mrs. Brenda Prenten of Rommittis was present and distributed pictures of the location where the awning would be placed. Commissioner Holden did not approve of the colors used on the awning, if the commission does not allow red, green and white signs the same should hold for the awning. Upon motion by Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Holden, the awning and valance sign were approved, subject to the awning being moved twelve to eighteen inches north of the south fascia. PERMA SYSTEM RETRACTABLE FABRIC AWNINGS 10.24/Pe PERMA RETRACTABLE FABRIC AWNINGS -A BEAUTIFUL WAY TO SAVE ENERGY Tests' have proven that fabric awnings block out up to 77% of the sun's direct heat. This lowers room tempera- tures by eight to fifteen degrees, therefore reducing air- conditioning costs considerably. The PERMA SYSTEM awnings not only help to conserve energy and eliminate glare, they also add beauty and pro- tect drapes, carpets and furnishings from fading. The hardware for retractable fabric awnings from the PERMA SYSTEM line has, for many years, been the most accepted and sought after throughout energy conscious Europe and other parts of the world. The advanced tech- nology, the high degree of craftmanship and the use of modern materials are some of the reasons why you will find that awning manufacturers all over the United States also are choosing the PERMA SYSTEM awnings.
