Vote: 4-1-0, Commissioner Gregory absent. (An appeal of the above action may be made in writing to the city clerk of the City of Palm Desert within fifteen (15) days of the date of the decision.) NATURE OF PROJECT/APPROVAL SOUGHT: Preliminary approval of plans for a 450 square foot chapel. LOCATION: West side of Highway 74. ZONE: R-1, S.P. BACKGROUND: The request is for approval of plans to construct a 450 square foot chapel in a portion of the parking lot on the south side of the existing church facilities. The building will be 16 feet by 28 feet and will have a maximum height of 18 feet 8 inches and a sloping roof with a low height of 7 feet. The building materials are not specified. However, it would appear to be concrete. RECOMMENDATION: That the commission review the plans for a 450 square foot chapel at the Palm Desert Community Church, Case 214 C, and determine acceptability. Should the commission decide to grant preliminary approval, it should be subject to the following conditions: 1. Construction plans shall be submitted for approval to the City Fire Marshal prior to issuance of building permits. All conditions shall be made a part of construction and no certificate of occupancy shall be issued until completed. 2. Final construction drawings, including a final landscaping, grading, lighting, amenities, trash storage, walkway layout, irrigation plans and sign program shall be submitted to the Architectural Review Commission. No final inspection or occupancy permit shall be given by the Department of Environmental Services to this project until the aforementioned approved plans and construction shall have been completed.
