A TOUCH OF MAMA'S is a small Italian Deli and restaurant on the south
side of Highway 111, across from Ace Hardware. Located in what is
commonly known as the 'Pinard' Building.
PURPOSE: The restaurant is in a location where 'high visibility' is
extremely important as the location does not afford pedestrain traffic.
The awning will increase the exposure of the business and serve as a
visual 'draw'. The other tenants and the landlord feel that this awning
will stimulate activity benefiting the entire building.
AWNINGS TYPE: The proposal is for a 'marquee entrance style'awning with
no upright ground supports.
AWNING SIZE: 3'6" wide X 2'9" height (3'0" ovall front height with
curved lower front bar.) 9'8" ovall projection. (Projecting 3,0" from
building facia.) There will be no freehanging valance.
FABRIC/COLOR: Client chose to use Awning ultra Red with white Ultra as the
oval on the awning front. This is a new acrylic coated fabric which is
color fast and extremely durable. The material is well suited to being
illuminated at night to present a striking 'glow effect.'
FIRE MARSHALL: As previously outlined by the C.D.F. Fire Marshall, the
size of this awning is under that requiring special flame retardant
certified fabric.
ARTWORK/LETTERING: The logo of 'MAMA' will be in an oval on the awning
front (see attached drawing showing style and colors.) The logotype "A
Touch Of Mama's " will be curved around this oval. Lettering "A Touch Of

lettering. The lettering of the front will have 'shadow' lines and the
lettering on the sides will be plain. Lettering will be in white ink: set
against the red awning fabric. We calculate that the total square footage
of the three areas of signage will be 13.5 Sq. Ft. The lateral shop
frontage is +20 Ft.

welded and/or slap fit jointed. Minimum tubing specification is 1"O.D./

Mr. Smith presented proposed awning with sign. He noted that
the awning is to overhang past the fascia by some 3 feet (without
support posts).
Commissioner Leung expressed concern and felt that it would make
the building look oversized. In addition, if other units in the
building also want awnings it could pose a problem.
Commission Martin said the overhang was no problem but he would
like the color to be changed from red to rust.
Mr. Diaz noted that the awning might be of some benefit from sun
