ZOOM MEETING I. CALL TO ORDER Chairman Klein called the meeting to order at 8:04 am. II. CONSENT ITEMS A. Approval of the Minutes and Financial Statements of the El Paseo Parking & Business Improvement District Regular Meeting of September 24, 2020. Rec: Approved A motion was made by Fletcher and seconded by Goldberg to accept and approve. Motion passed with a 4-0-3 vote; with Goldberg, Klein, Fletcher, and Stauber, and voting in favor; none against; Stein, Flaig-Moore and Campbell absent. IV. PARTNER UPDATES A. City of Palm Desert a) Outdoor Dining — Presented by Kevin Swartz. A photo presentation of Lupine Plaza was presented to those in attendance. The Plaza will be open from 6am to 10am daily. Photos of II Corso outdoor dining expansion were also shared with attendees. b) Halloween Events Update — Presented by Heather Greenwood, Carter PTO & Patrick Klein Reminded and invited all businesses to join in the Halloween festivities. YMCA Halloween drive -through, Thursday, Oct. 29th and Friday, Oct. 30th at the Gardens and the Halloween Cruise Night on Saturday, Oct. 31st Palm Springs Life Update. Presented by Jim Doyle, PSL Mr. Doyle presented the monthly report previously sent. V. NEW BUSINESS A. Retainer/Strategic Planning a) Deborah Glickman shared with the Board that at the September 24th City Council meeting, the Council approved $10K to be given to the EPPBID for the creation of a Shop Local campaign. Thomas Soule asked for a motion to authorize Mr. Klein to sign the City agreement and authorize Mrs. Greene to present ways to spend the funding. Page 2 of 3 A motion was made by Stein and seconded by Fletcher to accept and approve. Motion passed with a 5-0-2 vote; with Goldberg, Klein, Stauber, Stein and Fletcher voting in favor; none against; Flaig-Moore and Campbell absent. B. Brand Retention — Presented by Dawn McCoy c) Social Media — Dawn requested that when businesses post that they use the following hashtags: #unitepalmdesert; #shopelpaseo; #visitpalmdesert; @ShopElPaseo; @VisitPalmDesert. C. Merchant Relations a) Fall Merchant Meeting moved to Tuesday, October 27th at 9am. c) Merchant Outreach is going well, but it is taking time. VI. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS Discussion ensued with regards to the Dennis Roberg window display. The entire street has seen a negative impact from the current display and merchants are worried about future impacts. Thomas Soule presented and discussed a new marketing campaign for El Paseo, the "We Welcome You" campaign. Banners, posters and window clings, etc. will be created and are encouraged to be placed in businesses to let the community know that everyone is welcomed to the street. VII. REMARKS A.
