HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022-07-01 Notice of Election - Desert Sun EnglishNOTICE OF ELECTION CITY OF PALM DESERT OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a General Municipal Election will be held in the City of Palm Desert on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, for the following Officers and Advisory Measure: For District 2, Member of City Council Full Term of Four (4) Years For District 2, Member of City Council Full Term of Four (4) Years Advisory Vote Only Shall the measure relating to City Council districts be adopted? Limited to 75 words) In Palm Desert now, District 1 (the area surrounding Civic Center with 20% of the population) selects one Council representative every four years, and District 2 (the other 80% of the City) votes for a total of four Council representatives, picking two representatives every two years. Should District 2 be divided into four smaller districts, with all voters electing a single person from their smaller district every four years?” YES NO The nomination period for these offices begins on July 18, 2022, and closes on August 12, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. If nomination papers for an incumbent officer of the City are not filed by Friday, August 12, 2022, the voters shall have until Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. to nominate candidates other than the person(s) who are the incumbents for that incumbent’s elective office. If no one or only one person is nominated for an elective office, an appointment to the elective office may be made as prescribed by Section 10229, California Elections Code.
